Police Divisions

Police Operations

The Police Operations Division includes Patrol and Special Operations Divisions, the division daily deploys a sizeable force of sworn uniformed officers, uniformed Beach Safety Specialists, and School Crossing Guards in and around the Naples community.

Within the Patrol Division, a K-9 Unit provides special detection and apprehension resources when needed. Among the Division's general police services, a Marine Patrol Unit travels the City's inland waters and along its Gulf coastline with special focus on boater safety.

A Motorcycle Traffic Unit, Beach Specialist Unit, and a team of School Crossing Guards work out of the Special Operations Division. The Division coordinates and develops strategic plans for special City events. Traffic Patrol Officers and Beach Safety Specialists focus on parking, City ordinance and moving traffic conditions within the City. The Division will often initiate Special traffic enforcement programs and does handle many of the vehicle accident investigations for the Patrol Division

Community Oriented Policing / Crime Prevention / Code Enforcement

Community Policing is based on the concept of the police and the community working together to find solutions to long term issues. These issues may include many non-criminal issues not previously handled by the police department.

In 1995 the Community Orientated Policing Unit of the Naples Police & Emergency Services Department was formed. The unit members were each responsible for one of the six geographic areas within the city. This has since been changed to five C.O.P. areas corresponding to the five patrol sectors throughout the city.

October 2006 has brought about changes within NPFD. The Code Enforcement unit, which was previously part of the Community Development department, came under NPFD and was assigned to the Community Policing Supervisor. The Special Services Division was created, which incorporated the COP unit, Crime Prevention and Code Enforcement.

In addition to the five C.O.P. areas, there are additional officers assigned to smaller geographic areas to deal with specific needs. These include bike patrol officers along 5th Avenue South and the River Park residential areas (T.I.F.).

As of October 1, 2006 Code Enforcement has become a part of the Police and Emergency Services department and has moved from its old location in the Community Development department. Because of the close ties between the Naples Police and Code Enforcement officers in enforcing city codes, the move should streamline the code enforcement process.

The phone numbers and service to the public have not changed; Code Enforcement can still be reached at 239-213-5030 or by email at code@naplesgov.com.
